Josée Deschênes discusses a tradition she is passing on to her grandchildren

Between two shoots or rehearsals, one priority remains clear for Josée Deschênes: spending time with her family! This is what she explained to us in an interview on the set of Double jeu, while she seems more fulfilled than ever in her role as grandmother.

Her two granddaughters are five and two and a half years old respectively. “ That’s really my greatest happiness. I see them as much as I can, at least once a week. »

She explained to us that she shares special moments with them, gradually introducing them to the theatre.I was waiting for them to grow up so that they would be in the ages of the pieces. There are not often, but when there are, I take them. I went to see one at the end of the week with them. They are so cute. They are fascinated by that, the lighting… »

I like it, creating this habit with them because, for me, the theater is my first love. There’s something like… With grandma, grandpa, that’s what we do. So they’ll remember it later.

« My children, when they were younger, I took them to the Maison Théâtre. I subscribed to them. » And she intends to continue this tradition that she started with the previous generation. So I’m going to bring them, even teenagers, with me, they are subscribers. I’m going to follow that and the bigger they get, the more choices there are. »

Maybe they will have the chance to see their grandmother play on stage one of these days. Besides, the actress is part of the stage adaptation of the legendary film Santa Clause is garbagewhich is performing this summer in Quebec City, then in Gatineau and finally, in Brossard. A tour of additional shows will travel across the province throughout the year as well. See all the dates here.
