There are few of them, the sacred monsters of French culture. On the cinema side, how can we not think of Alain Delon, who left us in the middle of the summer of 2024 and whose disappearance left a lasting impression on his children? -wise, Eddy Mitchell is there. The French crooner, recently seen on the small screen in the movie An ideal fatherpublished his memoirs, simply titled Autobiographypublished on November 7, 2024 by Le Cherche midi and Tele-Leisure was able to read. The singer looks back on the great moments of his life, like this time when he wanted “break your face” to a recognized French filmmaker.

When Eddy Mitchell was angry with Johnny Hallyday

It was quite obvious that Eddy Mitchell would approach Johnny Hallyday, his colleague and accomplice for many years, at one point or another. However, this long friendship started off under bad auspices, with a first meeting punctuated by a slap! Not enough to cool the two men, until the death of Johnny in December 2017, which upset daughter Laura, of whom Eddy Mitchell is the godfather. Also very touched, the singer-film buff, a fan of westerns before the Eternal, remembers having thought of writing a song about his friend, in which he would pay homage to him… But he also remembers having wanted “to yell at him”in his own words. Eddy Mitchell says: “I'm angry with him for believing he was invulnerable, and for making us believe it. He thought he would get through everything. He wanted to remain the strongest, like a demigod. And we wanted it for him too. I shared some of his excesses, and I ended up calming down, by force of circumstances. I was wiser. There is a weariness in leading this life, warnings, the body and the doctors who alert you. He never calmed down, he never took his foot off the gas, and he partly ruined his life. But it represents a part of mine.”

What is Eddy Mitchell's song in tribute to Johnny Hallyday?

Finally, Eddy Mitchell, who also talks about regrets with his father in his book, comes out A little bit of love in September 2021. With very clear words, even if the name of Johnny Hallyday is never mentioned: “But you burned your whole life / In early mornings, in sleepless nights / Too late to regret the past / For me, you were more than a friend / A half brother, almost a double“. Fans of the artist will have to wait a little before discovering his new album, the release of which has been postponed to November 29, 2024 due to health problems of its performer. The sacred monsters are definitely causing us concern.
