“It could have been much more serious with the stock of gas cylinders”, 33 people unemployed but no injured following a major fire in Hesdin-l’Abbé

The fire broke out after leaving the offices shortly before 7:00 p.m., Tuesday June 25, 2024. It was under control before 10:00 p.m. 33 people are technically unemployed. Another nearby business was evacuated due to smoke.

A major fire destroyed two thirds of a 3,000 m² company, near Boulogne-sur-mer, this Tuesday evening, June 25, 2024. “The difficulty of this disaster is that there were acetylene bottles for welding. They were quickly protected by firefighters to avoid any release of gas or any potential explosion. The nearby company The Charlotte (industrial pastry shop) had to be evacuated during the disaster due to the release of smoke. Sixty-one people were sheltered.”indicates the communication from the SDIS of Pas-de-Calais which specifies that the firefighters of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Desvres, Calais, Marck-en-Calaisis and Hucqueliers came in particular with one of the two high-powered vans of the department which has a hydraulic power of 4,000 liters per minute.

According to the site director, the computer equipment was saved. A firewall between the hangar and the offices stopped the spread of the flames.

The director hopes, thanks to the saved computer data, to leave very quickly, by next week, in other premises (which would have already been found). According to him, it could have been much more serious with the stock of gas cylinders.
