In July 2021, the journalist and cinema specialist from Canal+ suffered a very serious medical problem that he and his entourage always kept secret.

Surprisingly, Michel Denisot celebrated the 20th anniversary of “Grand Journal” and the 40th anniversary of Canal+ on… TMC. Indeed, on Wednesday evening, in “Michel Denisot doesn't like birthdays”, Yann Barthès compiled numerous archive images and received several guests who rubbed shoulders with the journalist and presenter, including Laurent Weil. The presence of the journalist surprised more than one. And for good reason, in July 2021, he suffered a medical problem serious enough not to be revealed publicly. Since then, the host has been absent.

In the summer of 2023, Laurent Weil made a furtive return to Canal+. On the occasion of the Cabourg Romantic Film Festival, the journalist appeared in a video published on the X account of the pay channel where he interviewed François Civil and Lyna Khoudri who ultimately spoke alone in front of the camera on a terrace. And last February, he starred opposite Malik Bentalha in three parody videos where the comedian attacked French cinema.

After years of silence, Laurent Weil has finally agreed to discuss the health problem which kept him away from television sets and red carpets. To one of the questions Michel Denisot asked during his career: “Is life worth living?”the cinema specialist responded bluntly: “Yes. Having been in a coma for 15 days after my heart attack, I fought and fought to come back, to be able to express myself in front of you. So yes, we have to fight for life, to be able to take it back.”

The host of the evening immediately reacted: “We are very happy to have you this evening Laurent”And Jean-Michel Aphatie concluded: “We can’t move on after this”.
