Why Angelina Jolie’s youth was not a long, quiet river

International star, mother, symbol of humanitarian commitment, Angelina Jolie is a source of inspiration. But like many children exposed to the spotlight, the forty-eight-year-old actress experienced dark times during her youth.

Born June 4, 1975, she is the daughter of actors Jon Voight And Marcheline Bertrand. The couple separated in 1976, and divorced in 1978. From the age of seven, in 1982, the young Angelina played alongside her parents in the feature film Lookin’ to Get Out.

After her separation, Marcheline put aside her acting career to devote herself fully to the education of her children, Angelina and James Haven. The three of them live together in New York. The interpreter of Lara Croft would later explain that it was her mother who inspired her to pursue her acting career, and not her father with whom she had a complicated relationship. At the age of eleven, after her family moved to Los Angeles, she decided to become an actress. She enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and took classes for two years.

Angelina’s adolescence is very difficult. She certainly attends Beverly Hills High School, alongside the richest children in the region, but she has very little contact with her father. His classmates make fun of his mother and her modest income. Her braces, her glasses, her thinness and her strange passion for reptiles make her the martyr of her school.
