“I’m shocked”: Anne Roumanoff reacts to the dismissal of Guillaume Meurice by Radio France in “C l’hebdo”

A dismissal which has caused a lot of ink to flow… Aurélie Casse and her columnists received, on Saturday June 15 in “C l’hebdo”, the journalists Alain Duhamel, Ariane Chemin and Nathalie Saint-Cricq, the political scientist Jérôme Jaffré, as well as actor Victor Belmondo.

“I find it ridiculous to have fired him”

Also invited on the France 5 show, Anne Roumanoff was questioned about the dismissal of Guillaume Meurice at France Inter, after having reiterated his joke against Netanyahu. “I find it ridiculous to have fired him. I don’t like this joke but I think he has the right to do it. Humor has the right to be clumsy. Humor is attempts. We are living in difficult times. It’s complicated to do humor. We don’t hit it right every time! There’s all kinds of humor for all kinds of people. There is no good humor, there is no bad humor” she said.

To defend Guillaume Meurice, the comedian outbid: “If we start to decide that, then what’s the next step actually? What if there is a somewhat extreme regime in France coming? So we’re going to make commissions to say this joke is good, not good. I think it’s good, the joke they suspended it, it’s okay. It shocks me!“.

Faced with her interlocutors, the one who was also a radio presenter on Europe 1 did not fail to remind us: “Afterwards there are precedents, there were Stéphane Guillon, Nicole Ferroni, Didier Porte. There have always been comedians who got fired! But I find that in the current period, there are perhaps other emergencies than firing Guillaume Meurice for a failed joke“.

And Anne Roumanoff concluded on the set of Channel 5: “I’m shocked, I don’t think it’s good! And I find that this opens the door to a kind of intellectual reasoning where we would have the right to decide that this is good, that is not good…“.
