HOUSE OF STARS Jean-Paul Gaultier and his building in the heart of the Marais: He lives with his precious “Nana”

A lover of Paris, Jean-Paul Gaultier gave an interview in 2017 to journalists from House side where he mentioned this cocoon in which he feels so good. Described as “a small building in the heart of the Marais” by our colleagues, the place would be a “haven of peace with trees” which was of course tastefully decorated by the Haute-Couture designer.

If he qualifies his interior “eclectic“, he also reveals that he has created numerous objects himself, notably furniture, cushions, fabrics, often with his favorite pattern: the striped sailor top. To find inspiration and imagine the decorations for his interior, Jean-Paul Gaultier says he feeds on everything around him.It could be a film, a play, something I saw on TV, a walk in the street….” he adds.

Her Nana teddy bear, a favorite piece of her interior

“Your favorite room where you like to be and spend time?” journalists also asked him. “My room. I like to have breakfast in bed while watching the news on television.” If there is one object he cannot part with, it is his “Nana teddy bear”. A bear cub who “traveled for 6 years” for his exhibition. A soft toy that has followed Jean Paul Gaultier since his childhood and adolescence, still bearing traces of his grandmother’s makeup and the conical breasts he made for her. also add the journalists ofA.D.. “He has always been a woman to me.” he confided to Bernard Rapp on the set of the show Slice of Cake on October 14, 1989.

Even on his walls, Jean-Paul Gaultier gave free rein to his creativity since he imagined a series of wallpapers with Lelièvre. Several collections were born from this artistic collaboration including Autour du monde, Pop Rock and Voyages, Voyages which are now marketed by the designer’s brand.

A universe totally in the image of the French Haute-Couture designer.
