At the glass museum, the Rouloir museum, the Maison des Arts, in the hall of the performance hall, at the Conches-en-Ouche media library (Eure), each place hosts exhibitions by artist photographers with different sensibilities .
One of these exhibitions responds to a commission from the City of Goms and addresses humans in every sense of the word thanks to its fundamental approach to the relationships between those receiving care and caregivers. Titled At homeit was produced by Olivia Gay and is presented to the Cultural Space of the Tanneries of La Ferrière-sur-Risle, until Sunday December 1st.
Invisible professions
Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Olivia Gay has lived and worked in Perche since 2002 and obtained a doctorate entitled From documentary image to photographic painting in September 2024. Olivia Gay studied art history and photography in Boston, then at the National School of Photography in Arles. His work is regularly published by the French press and has been exhibited in Europe and at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo in Brazil.
Concours
Throughout the Biennale, a photo competition is open to amateur photographers: photos must be submitted from October 5 to November 21 (accompanied by the registration form) at the Conches media library, only in A4 format, unframed, unsigned . One photograph per participant on the theme Contre-jour. The results of the competition and the prize giving ceremony are scheduled for Saturday November 23 at 11:30 a.m. The three selected photos will be rewarded with a voucher from Camara Évreux.
In the work she delivers for the Biennale, Olivia Gay is interested in home care and help professionsinvisible, underpaid and essentially female. She decided to construct her images by focusing on gestures and lights, placing some of her compositions in the heritage of classical painting. His approach combines journalism, anthropology and art. She questions the visibility of women in difficult living or working contexts. Away from a photojournalism that favors the decisive moment and shocking images, Olivia Gay continues the long and patient quest for a look.
At home, Olivia Gay’s exhibition is visible at the Espace Culturel des Tanneries: 3 route de Conches in La Ferrière-sur-Risle, until Sunday December 1st. Wednesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. except public holidays.
