I'm one of them. » Actor James Van Der Beek, known primarily for playing the title role of the teen series Dawson (6 seasons between 1998 and 2003), has just announced on Instagram that he was being treated for cancer for several months.

He planned to talk about it in a long interview with People magazine, when he felt ready. But he could not stay in control of the time and announced his illness hastily on Monday when he knew that a tabloid was going to release the information. “ There is no manual for announcing this kind of thing (…) I had planned to talk about it at length with People magazine to raise awareness and tell my story, in my words » explains the actor on Instagram. He continues: “ But that plan had to be changed early this morning when I learned that a tabloid was going to publish the information ».

“Reasons to hope”

« Until now, I've handled this privately, focusing on my health, with the support of my incredible family. (…) I feel good », he wrote, next to a photo where he is holding his daughter's hand. He then apologizes to the relatives he was unable to warn himself: “ Nothing went as planned in my schedule. »
