Chase away the past, it comes galloping back! In the middle of a signing session in Rouen – his hometown -, on the occasion of the release of his latest book, François Hollande was followed by the France 5 cameras which covered the event. This Saturday, October 26, in C L'Hebdo, viewers were able to find the former president in contact with fans who came to have their copy of the Challenge of governing: The Left and power since the Dreyfus affair.
But the sequence took a comical turn to say the least when one of the admirers, giving her first name for the dedication, indicated that her name was Valérie. Indeed, it is difficult not to think, in this type of situation, of Valérie Trierweiler, the ex-partner of François Hollande.
François Hollande confronted with the memory of Valérie Trierweiler
Taken aback, the former president then repeated the admirer’s first name, before the latter confirmed: “Valerie, yes”. Not without humor, François Hollande then blurted out: “I know it well yes!”. And the woman in front of him responds, sarcastically: “Ah good ?”. A small moment of embarrassment in the face of which the former president coped rather well, ultimately, by choosing to play the humor card.
If the mention of Valérie Trierweiler is so embarrassing for François Hollande, it is because the two exes did not
not left on excellent terms. Water has flowed under the bridge since then, but the journalist never misses an opportunity to discuss the betrayal of her former companion in the media, in a more or less direct way.
“The worst thing”: Valérie Trierweiler talks about her romantic past
On August 15, while participating in the show Les traîtres, Valérie Trierweiler spoke about her private life. “I find that betrayal is the worst thing in the world. I suffered from betrayal both in love and in friendships. And it's terrible. I don't betray”, she declared before adding, as part of the game: “I fear actors, because it's their job to play a role”. “Or politicians”, declared another participant, not without humor. A remark that made Valérie Trierweiler laugh, while the two professions concern her ex and his new partner.
