Laurent Luyat is in mourning. On Tuesday June 4, 2024, the journalist announced sad news: he lost his mother. It was in fact on X (formerly Twitter) that he shared a moving message. “We love our mother almost without knowing it, without feeling it, because it is natural like living; and we only realize the depth of the roots of this love at the moment of the final separation (Maupassant)” he wrote, accompanied by a crying emoji.

Although he did not reveal the causes of his mother’s death, Laurent Luyat received the support of many of his colleagues. “All my condolences Laurent” wrote Damien Thévenot in a comment. “Everyone send strength today to my brother” shared Cyril Féraud. For their part, Mathieu Lartot and Alex Vizorek sent him hearts in support.

Note that the French journalist was very close to his mother. This ordeal is therefore very difficult to overcome, especially since it occurs while he is in charge of the Roland-Garros tournament and he is preparing to host the Tour de France from June 29, 2024.

As a reminder, in July 2016, the latter made a phone call to him for the last of Departure Village, which particularly affected Laurent Luyat. “I told myself, I’m not going to cry”, he declared when discovering the surprise of his colleague and friend Cyril Féraud. But of course, he burst into tears when he heard his mother’s voice. A unique moment that will now remain engraved forever.
