Dany Boon: his important role at the Paris Olympics… already widely criticized

The list of Olympic torchbearers is growing day by day. Since April 26, many personalities have had the opportunity to walk a short distance, Olympic flame in hand, such as Camille Combal, Marine Ltemporel, Jul and Ciryl Gane. And Dany Boon will also join this very closed circle of torchbearers!

The route of the Olympic flame in the North was revealed this Monday, June 3. And the surprise was announced by Christian Poiret, president of the departmental council. Dany Boon will have a major role since he will be the last torchbearer in the department. He will thus have the honor to light the cauldron in Lille on July 2.

A privilege for Dany Boon, “the child of the North”

Before arriving in the largest city in the North, the Olympic flame will pass through seven different cities throughout the day. Tourcoing, Dunkirk, Douai and Cambrai will notably be crossed, with anonymous torchbearers. But another well-known personality from Lille will also be there: Olivier Létang, president of LOSC, the city’s football club.

“When you’re a sports fanatic like me, what a symbol! We’re talking about the biggest sporting competition in the world that we’ve been waiting for for 100 years. And when we see what is happening in the world today, it can only bring togetherreacted the president.

Dany Boon has not yet reacted to this announcement. But we imagine that it is a great honor for the “child of the North”. The actor and director has indeed allowed the whole of France to discover the North with his comedy Welcome to the Ch’tis in 2008, then La Ch’tite Famille in 2018.

People to carry the flame? It’s annoying!

An honor and a pleasure that may not be shared by everyone. Many journalists and personalities have expressed their annoyance at the personalities carrying the flame. This is particularly the case of Gérard Holtz, “forgotten by the organization”, or Estelle Denis.

The host is indeed annoyed to see non-sporting celebrities being selected to carry the flame. “What bothers me is that all of a sudden, there are people who find a passion for sport, even though they have never talked about it. Seeing people who have never put on a tracksuit who, all of a sudden, are carrying the flame and saying how important it is to them, that annoys me a little”protested the journalist on the set of C to you.

Some Internet users were also not very enthusiastic about the choice of Dany Boon to carry the Olympic flame. “Where are the athletes? », “An icon of sport… Let’s send athletes to present the Césars next year too”can we read on social networks.
