Host Julien Courbet made a rant on social networks and we bet that millions of French people think exactly like him.

Julien Courbet, who denounces scams, frauds and confusion in his shows on M6 and RTL, is today attacking those who would like to make him pay… for having a dog! As the Barnier government seeks to recoup money from the French, one tax in particular is raising concerns.

This tax which could see the light of day: 30% of French people concerned

On his Twitter account, on October 17, Julien Courbet posted a message in the form of a rant. “The dog tax is the stupidest idea I’ve heard. People who have nothing left, who live isolated, only find comfort in the presence of their dog who gives love. Meanwhile works of art are tax deductible“, wrote the host of It can happen to you.

But what is he talking about? While ’s 2025 budget is at the heart of current debates among parliamentarians, one tax is in the spotlight: that on dogs. In several countries around the world, such as Germany, dog owners must pay a tax whose amount varies depending on various criteria (dog breed, city of residence, etc.) and which can therefore cost up to 600 euros. ! Last year, our neighbors collected the tidy sum of 421 million euros just from this tax.

As reported by the Society for the Identification of Domestic Carnivores (I-CAD), in France, there are 30% dog owners; and around 10 million dogs. Which could therefore bring a lot of money to the State. But, to date, the tax that exists elsewhere has not yet been put on the table by the Barnier government.

“It was love at first sight”

Julien Courbet is worried about this possible new tax because he himself is the happy owner of a dog. In 2021, he lost his dog Vega. “I didn’t think I could love a dog this much and that a dog could love me this much. When we saw each other at the shelter for the first time, it was love at first sight. Thank you for making us so happy. See you soon, I love you“, wrote the 59-year-old host on social networks.

Since then, Julien Coubet has adopted… Simone! In July 2021, posing a pretty little black dog on Instagram, he wrote in the caption of his publication: “That’s it! Simone came into our lives. So happy. Adopt a dog.” And her account is filled with photos and videos of Simone in her adventures. Gaga!
