Jean-Luc Lahaye accused of rape of minors: Setback for the singer, justice rejects his request on appeal

The singer has been facing accusations of sexual violence since 2021.

This Thursday, October 10, the Court of Appeal confirmed a decision of the investigating judge. Despite protests from the defense, the magistrates maintained the indictment of the singer for alleged acts of rape of minors.

Jean-Luc Lahaye, who has been facing these accusations since November 2021, asked to leave the status of indictment for the more favorable status of assisted witness, reports BFMTV.

The septuagenarian particularly contested the allegations of one of the complainants, Roxane*, affirming that their relationship was consensual. However, his request was rejected, first by the investigating judge, then in second instance by the investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal.

“We expect the investigating judge to stand at an equal distance between the complainant and the accused,” reacted the singer’s lawyers Mes Sophie Obadia and Bertrand Burman.

Forbidden to sing on stage

“This complainant has not communicated all of the elements requested from her for months and months. The very numerous testimonies of women in favor of Jean-Luc Lahaye are never taken into account,” they also regretted. about what they perceive to be flaws in the investigation.

For her part, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Me Nathalie Bucquet, assured that her “client is relieved by this decision and hopes that the investigation will soon be completed”.

As a reminder, Jean-Luc Lahaye, 71, has been indicted since November 5, 2021 “for rape and sexual assault of minors over the age of 15”. The alleged acts of rape, which he denies, were denounced by two young women and date back to 2013, when they were aged 16 and 17.

This affair has repercussions on the career of the singer, who has been banned from performing on stage since his indictment. This is why he wanted to see his status evolve.
