She says her Irish mother has a more fun life than hers and claims to spend her evenings with her cat more often than with anyone else. In her one-woman show “The Promise of One Evening”, Alison Wheeler makes fun of the reality of her love life. In an interview, the comedian confides, however, that her loneliness led her to freeze her eggs. And that’s not a joke.
“I have a desire for motherhood which is thwarted,” she confided on October 6 to “La Tribune Dimanche”. She wants children, “but not now,” says the 38-year-old young woman, discovered on Canal+ then in the show “Quotidien”. “I am well aware that it will not be as simple as that. And if it doesn’t work naturally when I feel ready, I’ll at least have some in the freezer. It’s a solitary journey that has opened my mind enormously, because we are far from imagining what awaits us.”
Alison Wheeler had already talked about freezing her eggs last September, on the talk show “C à vous”, on France 5. “It involves a lot of pelvic ultrasounds. It’s still a moment in life that we don’t expect. We are obliged to see it with humor and poetry, and to say to ourselves: it’s still wonderful to know what is inside of us,” she confided to host Anne-Elizabeth Lemoine .
In France, egg freezing is not authorized (except for medical reasons, for example during chemotherapy which can make you infertile), which forces women opting for this procedure to go abroad. The singer Lorie, suffering from endometriosis, had resorted to it in order to one day become a mother – a dream which came true in 2020 with the birth of her daughter Nina.
