The comedian and host will be, this winter, at the helm of a new project close to his dream: that of one day having his own talk-show. You loved the experience of Get me out of here!. Why did you decide not to animate it anymore?

For two reasons. First of all, Jean-Philippe (Dion) no longer did it because of Star Academy. For my part, I would have done it again, but they no longer film in the summer due to the rainy season in Central America. It’s way too hard to shoot. They decided to shoot the series in November, but I have commitments in Quebec during this season. So it was impossible to do it. I didn’t have a choice, but I’m very relaxed about it all.

What are your other projects?

I’m back to WKND radio. The radio continues to live in Quebec and we continue the broadcast, Geneviève Hébert-Dumont and me. People in Montreal can listen to us on the app, and people in Quebec on the frequency. Otherwise, I’m writing my next show and testing new material at the moment. In this show, I will go much less off the beaten track. I will have jokes about relationships and I will also talk about my relationship with Mariana. I’m going to skin it a little, friendly and loving. I will also talk about more serious subjects, including my friend’s suicide Hugo Pellicelliwho was one of the funniest people I’ve ever known. I will discuss my relationship with my aging parents, a situation that I find difficult.

In closing, what’s left for you to do, Alex?

I would really like to have my own talk show one day. I would also love to write fiction, without acting in it.

The not worst showweekdays at 11:30 a.m., on WKND 91.9 FM. The show Incredible! will be presented this winter on Radio-Canada. For show dates, see alexandrebarrette.com.
