The young presenter from Télévisions recounted a difficult experience concerning his disability during his childhood.

Solar, Theo Curin always has a smile on his face. However, the 24-year-old had some very difficult times during his childhood. At the age of six, he had his arms and legs amputated due to fulminating meningitis. Today, he is involved in an awareness campaign on this disease.

After participating in the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016 in swimming at the age of 16, he became a presenter on France Télévisions. He is now at the head of “T’es au Top”, a testimonial show with children on France 4 and has taken over the reins of “Slam” for two weeks, which he presents every afternoon on France 3. A new role that delights him.
“It’s an incredible story that begins. It’s quite wonderful because some time ago, I was far from imagining that this was going to happen in my life”he explained. “The fact that this show is embodied by a guy like me today is a huge message of hope that we are sending to the general public. It means that people will spend their late afternoon with a guy who has neither arms nor legs on their screen. And that, a few years ago, was impossible.”

From his childhood and adolescence, Théo Curin made his difference a strength. During an interview with our colleagues at Closer he particularly remembered his return to school. “The school had made the necessary arrangements for my wheelchair.he recalled.. My friends had fun climbing on it. I didn’t hesitate to ask the girls for help to close my jacket or my schoolbag. I quickly realized that my disability would be like an “icebreaker” that would allow me to easily approach others.”

However, the way others looked at him was not always kind. “That was the hardest thing to bear.”he confided. The young man thus recounted a difficult moment experienced during his childhood. “I remember this lady sitting on the train in front of me. She asked my mother if “what i had” was contagious. Although my mother reassured her, she still went to see the inspector so that he could come and ask the question himself. Then she changed seats. At the time, this situation pained me, but today, I laugh about it.

The man who swam across Lake Titicaca in 2021 is full of projects. In particular, he will present a new magazine called “Aidants: il est temps de les aider” on France 5 from October 8 at 9:05 p.m. In this show, he invites personalities (Bruno Solo for the first and Clémentine Célarié for the second) to take care of people he is helping for 48 hours. During this time, he takes care of the caregivers and puts them in contact with associations.
