The American company Sun Chemical (DR)
Sun Chemical Group Cooperatief plans to acquire Lorilleux Maroc, a company specializing in the production of printing and packaging inks, according to sources consulted by The Desk. Sun Chemical Group Cooperatief, an American company belonging to the Japanese group DIC (Dainippon Ink and Chemicals), is one of the world’s leading producers of printing inks, coatings and adhesives.
In accordance with article 13 of law 104-12 on free pricing and competition, Sun Chemical Group Cooperatief notified its proposed acquisition to the Competition Council. The other players in the printing ink distribution sector have until July 17 to submit their comments on this operation to the body headed by Ahmed Rahhou.
Founded in 1949, Lorilleux Maroc is active in the sector of publishing inks and inks/bases for packaging. It is a subsidiary of Coates Lorilleux Europe and a member of the Sun Chemical group. The company is chaired by Driss Tarari, a civil mining engineer, who also runs Agri Trade Maroc, a fertilizer distribution company, and SCE Chemicals, which specializes in the manufacture and distribution of soda silicate and sulfonic acid. The Moroccan company is headed by Abdelkbir Moutawakkil, also president of the Federation of Chemistry and Parachemistry.
