The new Tesla Model Y now really looks like a Chinese car already sold here

An Xpeng G6?

It is currently in China, and in certain Asian markets, that the Model Y “Juniper” – its code name – has been introduced. The front face is completely redesigned, now with stepped lights and a lighting signature consisting of an LED strip running across the entire width. A gimmick supposed to make the link with the Cybertruck, but which has sparked many comments on social networks. Some see – rightly so if you ask us – a fairly clear resemblance to the Xpeng G6. This SUV, distributed here by Hedin Automotive, is nevertheless presented as one of the most serious rivals of the Model Y, from which it is also quite obviously inspired in the treatment of its “bubble” profile. In short, when some criticized the outgoing model for a too generic look, it seems that the newcomer is not overflowing with originality either. The rear also changes, now with a light strip crossing the entire width (another big trend of the moment) but with “diffuse light”.

As for the interior, it changes only slightly in terms of design and equipment, being modeled on the Model 3 restyled last year and finally adding functions such as customizable ambient lighting or seats. before ventilated.

On the technical side, we will wait for the update of the European version to know all the secrets, in particular the autonomy which is announced to be even higher. Which cannot drag on since, according to the German press, production for the European market in the German factory should begin this week.
