Since January 3 and throughout the month, you can benefit from a trade-in bonus of 700 euros in the case of a purchase of a new hybrid vehicle. A solution proposed by the car manufacturer following failures on the PureTech engine.
Good news if you own a Peugeot vehicle equipped with a 1.2 PureTech engine, known for its reliability problems.
On the occasion of the car manufacturer's open days since January 3, the brand is offering a trade-in bonus.
“We are offering a bonus of 700 euros to owners of vehicles with a PureTech engine when purchasing a new hybrid vehicle,” explains Martine Pradignac, spokesperson for Peugeot France, to RMC Conso. To benefit from it, motorists must sign a new order form during the month of January.
“New timing belts”
The new vehicle will also be equipped with a PureTech engine. But then, are there still risks? No need to worry, according to the Peugeot France spokesperson. “Since June 2022, new timing belts have been installed in PureTech engines,” she assures.
Indeed, since its marketing in 2013 and until 2023, it was equipped with a timing belt bathed in oil, which could lead to the engine breaking.
“The vacuum pump may be damaged by abrasion of the timing belt material. Consequently, braking assistance could be reduced or lost, thus increasing the risk of an accident,” Rappel Conso indicated in November 2020 , after an alert from the European Commission. Nearly 200,000 vehicles would be affected.
This recovery bonus runs throughout the month of January. “These are one-off offers, we will see if we will make them last,” concludes Martine Pradignac.
