After 38 years of existence, Opération Enfant Soleil becomes Enfant Soleil. With the simplification of its name, the organization wishes to build on its heritage while modernizing its image to better reflect its mission.
“Operation Enfant Soleil was born from the telethon which lasted 24 hours. It was an operation every year, then it was over. For several years, we have been more than a telethon and we work all year round through our initiatives, and the telethon rather closes our campaign,” explains Jonathan Gendron, president and CEO of Enfant Soleil.

Although its image evolves, its mission remains the same: to mobilize the entire Quebec population, so that children have access to the best health, everywhere in Quebec, by supporting the hospitals and organizations that watch over them.
“Today, children spend less time in the hospital, heal more quickly, and their care pathway is more appropriate, but there are still 50,000 who are hospitalized per year in Quebec.”
“Each time, it’s a tragedy for the family. So we must continue to be there for them and develop pediatric care in Quebec,” says Mr. Gendron.
A brand new campaign
This change is accompanied by a new awareness campaign aimed at continuing to mobilize Quebec behind the cause and supporting the pediatrics ecosystem.
“We noticed that nothing in the world of illness seems to be made for children. […] We therefore brought this idea to life from the point of view of a child to describe in the simplest way the role of Enfant Soleil: to enable us to offer children care made for them,” explains Marc-André Lafrance, designer. -editor at LG2 who produced the video.
It is therefore on the musical framework of Ellipseby Alexandra Stréliski, that little Martin takes us into his reality as a child who discovers that the illness is complicated, that it hurts and that sometimes it even prevents cuddling. It turns out that there is still hope.
“I was happy to see that a child was being allowed to speak. Often, we see the point of view of the speakers. But there, to see what is happening in the head and the skin of a child with the challenges that he must face in the illness, I really think that it will affect the population”, estimates Marie-Hélène Marquis, head of The pediatric intensive care unit of the Soleil Mother-Child Center, where the filming took place.

Remember that Enfant Soleil finances more than a hundred projects submitted by different health establishments across the province each year in order to provide children with an optimal and adapted care pathway. Since 1988, nearly $320 million has been devoted to carrying out thousands of programs throughout Quebec.
