In September, BYD wowed the gallery with its Yangwang U9. As Futura then mentioned, the electric hypercar knew how to jump like a lowrider and turn on the spot, like an assault tank. Now she shows that she also knows how to “fly”. With his airair racy, its portesportes butterfly and its 1,287 horsepower engine, the car has just been the subject of an even more spectacular video. We see the car driving autonomously on a poorly paved track and jumping over the various obstacles that are in its path.
The Yangwang U9 jumps over a large hole in the pavement and even a field of spikes, as if it were a video game. While traveling at 120 km/h, the first obstacle is a huge pothole filled with water. It is 2.5 meters long. The car detects it, compresses its suspension system, then releases it so that the 2,500 kilogramskilograms why massemasse can rise above this hole!
In total, during this aerial maneuver, the car traveled six meters before hitting the ground again. For the next obstacle, we immediately think of chases and portcullises thrown on the road by the police to stop a fleeing vehicle in its tracks. Bad news for them, the Yangwang U9 is the absolute dream of crazy drivers and other bandits. As with the giant pothole, it rises above this four-meter strip of metal spikes to cross it with elegance.

Unstoppable in a chase
The racing carracing car seems to pass these obstacles without difficulty or effort, and without any pilot on board. Finally, after this jump over the points, as the “highlight” of the show, the car ends up jumping over a surface painted with chalkchalk to colorscolors of the rainbow. Its passage causes a cloudcloud of multicolored dust like a final point. To achieve these demonstrative long jumps, the car tests the capabilities of its onboard technologies.
This is the case of the intelligent damping controller coupled with that of stabilization. The machine is equipped with an anti-subsidencesubsidence which is activated during acceleration. When braking, to avoid leaving the casings on the road, an anti-dive system is in action. Finally, for tight and fast turns, an anti-roll system is activated.
In addition to this intelligent suspension, the car is pushed by four electric motors which deliver 1,287 hp with a torque of 1,680 Nm. Enough to reach 100 km/h in just over two seconds. For the moment, the U9 is not sold in Europe and costs a whopping 236,000 euros. Its mass production began a few months ago, but we do not know if the car can perform the figures that we can see in this video. In addition to being able to perform jumps, BYD claims that it is also capable of floating on water. Useful if she doesn’t manage to jump as far over a stream as expected.
