It is under the sign of adaptation that Sony wanted to start this CES 2025. The Japanese company has revealed a whole bunch of new features that extend beyond the game. Of course, we had news of season 2 of the acclaimed series The Last of Usbut not only that. Ghost of Tsushima, Helldivers and Horizon Zero Dawn were also there, each with their own little dedicated adaptation. For Aloy’s adventures, it will be a film in live-action which will a priori retrace the story of the first episode. At the helm, we find PlayStation Productions et Columbia Pictures. Note that this is therefore the same production company as for another adaptation of a Sony license into film: Uncharted.
For now, that’s all we have to sink our teeth into for this new project. As explained by Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productionsit is only in the early stages of production. So, casting has definitely not been launched yet. But of course, speculation about who would make the best Aloy is already running rampant on the internet. Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Rosa Salazar (Alita : Battle Angel)… Everyone has their own guess and this does not date from the last announcement of Sony. And for good reason, another adaptation project was supposed to be in the pipeline. Remember, we had already been announced a series Horizon made in Netflix. But now, a few months ago, rumors were reporting a possible cancellation of the project. The reason? Accusations of toxic behavior against the showrunner of the series, Steve Blackman. Officially, the project has not been thrown in the trash, but this new announcement still has the air of a tree supposed to hide the forest of a discreetly buried project.
