Increase in the fuel premium up to €300: are you eligible?

With the surge in energy prices, the French government, hand in hand with the Ministry of Transport, has decided to give employees a boost by increasing the fuel bonus. The idea is simple: reduce the costs associated with commuting and boost purchasing power. From the January 1, 2025this premium will increase from 200€ has 300€ per year, just to provide a little more financial assistance to workers.

Why this measure in the face of rising prices?

Energy prices continue to rise, and the government clearly wants to support French households. The increase in this premium is a direct response to the economic concerns of the moment. The goal? Relieve employees who see their budget explode due to daily travel. In addition, this assistance is tax-free, which allows beneficiaries to take full advantage of it.

Companies can play on this premium with a certain freedom. It is a voluntary initiative where employers and employee representatives must agree on its implementation. This negotiated framework ensures that the bonus meets the needs of employees while respecting the annual ceiling set at 300 euros non-taxable.

Who can benefit from it and how does it work?

Access to this bonus depends above all on the goodwill of employers and requires an agreement within the company or between several companies. These agreements are discussed with employee representatives to guarantee fair and clear application. Employers have a crucial role in verifying the eligibility of employees, often based on collective agreements already in place.

An important point: regardless of the type of vehicle used by employees for their professional journeys (whether thermal, hybrid or electric), everyone is entitled to this financial support.

Towards greener mobility: what encouragement?

In parallel with the increase in the fuel premium, the government has also adjusted its aid to push towards electric and soft mobility. The tax exemption ceiling for recharging electric vehicles thus increases from 500 euros has 600 euros per year, to encourage more employees to opt for greener solutions.

In addition, those who choose greener modes of transport such as cycling or walking are not forgotten. The accumulation of the sustainable mobility package with public transport subscriptions sees its ceiling increase to 900 euros per year against 800 euros previously.

A collective effort to change our habits

All these measures clearly show that the French government and the Ministry of Transport are seriously committed to sustainable mobility while supporting purchasing power. By directly involving employers and employee representatives in this process, we can adjust this aid according to current economic and environmental realities.

These initiatives aim not only to alleviate the financial pressure linked to commuting but also to encourage everyone to think about their transport choices and perhaps even consider a change towards ecological alternatives thanks to the new financial aid offered.
