Faced with an influx of patients in the emergency room, the Force Ouvrière de la Mayenne union announced, Friday evening, the activation of the white plan at the Laval hospital. The hospital center must deal with seasonal epidemics.

“What health disaster are we facing on January 3, 2025? Plane crash? Factory classified as “at risk” which is on fire? No… none of that… CH Laval is struggling to cope with the “winter viruses”, writes the FO union of CH Laval on its Facebook page.

Because the situation has been tense for several weeks in the Laval emergency room, a little more so since last Thursday with an influx of patients, many affected by flu and gastro.

“Now for the slightest flu epidemic, given that we have fewer and fewer beds in hospitals, we are triggering a blank plan, deplores Maxime Lebigot, FO treasurer of CH Laval, “It’s still very worrying and it raises questions about the capacity of French hospitals, because we’re going to say that almost all French hospitals are in this situation with the current flu epidemic.” .

“The years follow one another and are similar. The people of Mayen are not sicker than in previous winters, they do not come to the hospital more often than before, estimates FOsimply, we still lack doctors and caregivers to be able to treat everyone well.”

Force Ouvrière denounces this “tsad reality that affects the entire country, with very concrete consequences!”, a blank plan triggered by the Laval CH, leading to a “deprogramming of operations planned in the operating room. Unionists and management of the Laval hospital center have planned to meet at the start of the week.

A meeting in which the Mayenne trade unionist “n’attend not much, we’re just waiting for them to keep us informed, as staff representatives, because we learned of the memo, like everyone else last night, by email.”
