The year 2025 is off to a good start for all retirees. Indeed, increases for all plans await them. Certainly, these revaluations are not as impressive as in 2023 or 2024. However, they have the merit of existing.

If they exist, it is to allow retirees to adapt to economic developments in the country. For this reason, they are based on inflation in recent months. Note, however, that the unions are campaigning for an adjustment to the minimum wage. According to them, such a method would be fairer to preserve the purchasing power of retirees.

Increases for all pension plans

Pensions of retirees will increase in the main schemes, including the general regime (Cnav), the civil servants regime (CNRACL), private sector supplements (Agirc-Arrco) and Aspa. These increases aim to offset, at least in part, the effects of inflation and to support retirees in the face of the rising cost of living.

To begin with, basic pensions will evolve in accordance with the law 2.2%. If we make this clarification, it is because the former government of Michel Barnier wanted to freeze, then finally limit this increase.

Increase in pensions: this increase which will delight seniors

However, due to censorship, the desire to change basic pensions by 0.8% will ultimately not see the light of day. This is therefore good news for retirees, although the increase will be more modest than in 2024. Last year, due to galloping inflation, pensions actually increased by 5.3%.

At the same time, the most modest retirees will also benefit from an increase in Aspa. Indeed, the solidarity allowance for the elderly also increases by 2.2%.

Agirc-Arrco: a revaluation from November 2024

Retirees from the private sector affiliated with Agirc-Arrco, which manages the supplementary plans, will have to wait until November 2025 to benefit from their increase. Indeed, they have already benefited from an increase since November 2024. The latter, modest, was 1.6%.

You will therefore have to be patient to benefit from the next revaluation. However, since inflation continues to slow down, the next increase will undoubtedly be even more relative. At present, it is impossible to make a precise estimate. However, it is likely that the 2025 revaluation will be close to 1%.

A demanding economic and social context

These adjustments take place in a context marked by inflation that is certainly less powerful, but persistent. The latter puts the purchasing power of retirees to the test. Although the percentage increases remain relatively modest, they nevertheless reflect a desire for support, while respecting the budgetary constraints of pension funds.

On this subject, this is where Michel Barnier wanted to make a lot of savings. Indeed, his desire to freeze the revaluation of basic pensions made it possible to save 4 billion euros.

But the other deputies did not hear it that way. Even among the former Prime Minister's own parliamentary group, this decision was not unanimous. They stressed that it was essential to protect retirees from the economic crisis. However, Michel Barnier targeted them. Finally, seniors can therefore rejoice in government censorship.
