In November 2024, Tesla announced an exceptional promotion: free charging on its superchargers for a year for any buyer of its Model Y SUV. But one condition changes the whole situation for new owners who have been seduced… Are you one of them? ?

Free charging for a year on its superchargers

In November 2024, Tesla announced a promotion intended to attract buyers of its electric SUV, the Model Y. The offer: one year of free charging on its network of ultra-fast superchargersallowing drivers to significantly reduce their usage costs. But this offer is actually conditional on delivery of the vehicle before December 31, 2024, and not on its purchase before this same date.

According to the estimates of our colleagues atAuto Plus, this promotion promised between 600 euros in savings for average use (around 12,000 kilometers per year) and up to 1,500 euros for the biggest riders (20,000 kilometers per year). This Tesla promotion applies to all new versions of the Model Y, with prices starting at 36 990 euros for the Propulsion version (after deduction of the ecological bonus of 4,000 euros). A promotional offer which therefore attracted, and above all pushed, a large number of motorists who were previously hesitant, to buy a Model Y from the American brand.

Tesla accused of willful deception by its customers

Despite the attractiveness of this promotion, many buyers express their dissatisfaction with a condition considered restrictive. As reported in fact Mobiwizy, The Tesla Supercharger offer for the purchase of a Model Y is only valid if the vehicle is delivered before the end of the year, i.e. before December 31, 2024. And that's the whole problem: even if the order was validated on time, delivery depends on the logistics of the American manufacturer, but this is far from being the most efficient. Consequence: many buyers will not receive deliveries from Tesla before December 31 and will therefore not be able to benefit from said promotion on its superchargers.

The aggrieved customers, in addition to pointing out the lack of communication on the part of Tesla, are indignant and affirm that the American manufacturer kept them in this situation with full knowledge of the facts, thus deliberately deceiving them. According to testimonies relayed by Mobiwizyalthough having recognized failures in its logistics chain, Tesla refuses any compensation or commercial gesture. A somewhat dubious commercial practice, and which curiously seems to echo the plunge in Tesla sales (-40%) in November 2024…
