In recent hours, Stade Rennais has decided to take on the role of dynamiter of the Mercato in Ligue 1. The Breton club, 12th after the first part of the season, is far from its ambitions of the first third of the ranking and will therefore change a lot things during this month of January. This Saturday, we first learned that Seko Fofana was going to join the Breton club, accompanied by another strong recruit: Brice Samba!
Mandanda has no intention of leaving
The number two goalkeeper of the France team will take on a new challenge in a club which will drop more than 15 million euros to secure his arrival. A recruitment which inevitably raises a question: what will become of Steve Mandanda? The starting goalkeeper for the first part of the season finds himself once again challenged by Jorge Sampaoli, who had already put him in difficulty in 2021 at OM, when Pau Lopez was inducted as number one goalkeeper to everyone's surprise.
Faced with this new twist in Fenomeno's career, his response is clear. L'Equipe du jour ensures that Mandanda has not at all planned to leave Rennes, and intends to play the game of competition with Brice Samba. “He is a huge professional, who has always had responsibilities during his career, he will persevere, he will be very respectful in group life,” warns a member of his entourage. Samba will therefore have a particularly imposing shadow to manage in his new role as Rennes goalkeeper.
