Moroccan scientist Rachid Yazami was recently awarded a new patent in China for his method of fast charging lithium batteries, particularly intended for electric vehicles.

“I am proud to announce that after Japan last February, it is now China’s turn to grant us a patent for the fast battery charging method, in particular for future electric cars,” Yazami said on his Facebook page.

Titled “Adaptive charging protocol for fast charging of batteries and fast charging system implementing this protocol”, the patent rewards the technology developed by Rachid Yazami, called « Non-Linear Voltage » (Non-linear voltage), which significantly reduces the charging time of lithium batteries.

Tests conducted in Singapore, where the researcher is based, demonstrated exceptional performance, with full charge times reaching 15 minutes, and even 5 minutes in some cases.

This innovation comes in a context of development of renewable energies in Morocco, marked in particular by the investment agreement of 1.3 billion dollars signed by the Sino-European group of batteries for electric vehicles Gotion High-Tech and the Moroccan government for build a gigafactory in Kenitra.

Rachid Yazami has more than 200 inventions and 250 scientific publications to his credit.
