Stop reading now if you’re hoping for another chronicle of Justin Trudeau’s live trainwreck.
Let’s still admit that this gave us some great moments of laughter.
I even read that the real person responsible for the disaster would be… Trump! At this level, denial reaches the sublime.
Act
After the elections, Pierre Poilievre will, in all likelihood, be the Prime Minister of Canada.
Quebec has little to expect from him, other than getting rid of Trudeau.
Poilievre has no specific interest in Quebec, which he does not need to win, and the Canadian political system will remain as it is.
It is a subtle system of neocolonial domination in which French Quebec is losing weight every day.
In this system, Quebecers who join federalist parties are exploited and turned against their own people in exchange for a career.
Putting hope in a new federal government and turning out to be disappointed is such an old film that we no longer really know what to say to the naive people who succumb each time.
There is only one real solution: to get out of this diet for good, which would obviously involve more effort and responsibility.
Until then, what can we reasonably expect from Poilievre that would be objective progress?
First, stop spending like a drunken sailor, cut subsidies to businesses, eliminate lots of unnecessary programs and lower taxes.
Next, curb mass immigration, which causes enormous, well-documented problems and brings in lots of people who radically reject our values.
Poilievre said he was against Bill 21 on secularism, but he could at least ensure that the federal government no longer supports those who continue to challenge it.
It could also abolish the religious exemption in the Canadian Criminal Code, which allows hate speech to be held without being prosecuted in court if this speech is based on a “good faith” religious belief.
Let’s call this the Charkaoui provision.
Finally, Poilievre says he is anti-woke. Where to start? Three obvious targets.
The first? An in-depth review of CBC. Should I add more?
The second? The immediate dismissal of Amira Elghawabi and the abolition of her position as commander-in-chief of the fight against Islamophobia.
Islamophobia, said Andrew Cummins, is a term “invented by fascists and used by cowards to manipulate fools.”
Universities
The third is wokism in the academic world, its main place of production.
Universities are obviously free to hire whoever they want. So we didn’t leave the hostel.
But Poilievre could at least abolish the woke criteria in awarding research grants, which force students and researchers to lie to have a chance.
It could also abolish “diversity” quotas in the faculty imposed by the federal research chair program, which force universities to exclude white men in order to get the money.
That would already be it.
