here are the first secrets of this new Chinese electric car

Xiaomi has just surprisingly presented the first images of its second electric car, the YU7. A strategy that is not innocent, making it possible to fill in the leaks coming from the Chinese Ministry of Information. Here is the first technical information about Xiaomi's electric SUV.

No one expected Xiaomi to present the first photos of its new electric car, the YU7, on Chinese networks. A strategy which ultimately had nothing innocent about it.

Indeed, the traditional leaks from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) arrived simultaneously. Official communication allows us to have nice photos, but MIIT allows us to learn more.

A beautiful baby

It is CarNewsChina which relays the information. The MIIT does not reveal all the technical secrets of the Xiaomi YU7, but we can still find out more, particularly in terms of dimensions.

The SUV therefore measures 4.99 m long (including 3.00 m wheelbase) by 1.99 m wide and 1.60 m high. The length is therefore taken from the SU7, Xiaomi's first electric car, but with 3 cm more width and 15 cm more height – SUV bodywork obliges.

Some technical information

MIIT also gives us some technical leads. The version of the YU7 listed by the ministry therefore has two engines, developing a combined 508 kW (681 hp). Power slightly higher than that of the SU7 Max, enough to push up to 253 km/h.

In terms of battery, we will simply know that it is an NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) chemistry supplied by CATL – probably the 101 kWh Shenxing that we find on the SU7 Max and Ultra. Which would justify the weight of 2,405 kg.

It is quite obvious that other versions, less powerful and therefore more affordable, will also be in the catalog. As a reminder, Xiaomi plans to launch its YU7 in “June or July 2025”at prices still unknown.
