An agreement was signed on July 2, 2024 at ONHYM headquarters, in the presence of Amina Benkhadra, Managing Director, and Charles Tautfest, President of Esso Exploration International Limited.

This agreement concerns the launch of offshore hydrocarbon reconnaissance work which should cover two areas located in the Atlantic Ocean: the Safi-Essaouira offshore area and the Agadir-Ifni offshore area.

This reconnaissance work constitutes a preliminary phase of research which should lead to a decision to start exploration work or to abstain.

Esso Exploration International is a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, the American oil exploration giant, the world’s largest oil company by market capitalization and the world’s third largest producer of crude oil and gas. ExxonMobil has a major presence in offshore exploration, with positions in 27 of the 34 countries where it conducts exploration activities.

The American company’s gigantic portfolio allows it to produce 1.3 million barrels of oil per day and about 56 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
