The accident took place during the night of June 15 to 16, 2024. On the 4 lanes leading from Alençon to Sées, the driver of the car in which the victims were traveling had lost control of his vehicle on a bendand hit the concrete barriers. In the vehicle, six young people were seated, returning from an evening in a bar in Alençon. Two of them, a young woman aged 19 and a young man aged 22, died instantly.
The investigation showed that the driver was traveling at 110 km/hour instead of the 80 authorized for drivers still on probationary license. A driver who had been drinking that evening and presented a blood alcohol level of 0.68 grams per liter of blood.
At the helm of the Alençon criminal court this Thursday, November 28, the young man of only 21 years old, who escaped, like the three other passengers, with minor injuries, was being prosecuted for homicide and involuntary injuries. The prosecution requested five years in prison against him, three of which were suspended. The Alençon court finally sentenced to four years, two of which were suspended. His license was also cancelled. He won’t be able to take it again for three years.
