The people of Geneva should accept an income tax cut on Sunday. The majority amounts to 61.3%, after counting 95% of the ballots. This reduction fulfills a legislative promise from the Council of State. It will cause the canton to lose 320 million francs in revenue.

The measure concerns all taxpayers, but it varies depending on the categories of taxable income. The middle class, those who do not receive any state aid, can expect a decrease of 11%. For the wealthiest people, the reduction will only be around 5%.

This tax cut was defended by the right, who consider it perfectly bearable for the State of Geneva, which has generated significant revenue surpluses in recent years. According to her, the measure will restore purchasing power to the population.

The left, which fought this project, considers that the revenue lost to the State cannot be compensated over time and that the Canton will be reduced to cutting expenses and services. Participation was 43.8%.
