This Thursday, June 20, 2024, a United Airlines plane was forced to land only a few minutes after taking off this Thursday, June 20 after losing part of the sound-absorbing covering on its engine cover during takeoff, reports ABC News.

The Airbus SE A320, heading to Denver, Colorado, was forced to turn around to land at its departure point: Bradley International Airport, Connecticut. A United spokesman said part of the engine’s sound-absorbing outer covering was found on the runway at the airport near the town of Hartford, Connecticut.

No injuries

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it would investigate the incident. The FAA said crew members of the Airbus A320 airliner heard a “abnormal noise” shortly after the flight took off and the pilots decided to return safely to Bradley Airport.

The company transferred passengers to other flights so they could get to Denver as quickly as possible. 124 passengers and five crew members were on board the flight and none of them were injured due to this incident.
