Zapping Autonews Alfa Romeo 6C 2300B Mille Miglia (1938): presentation of the Italian coupe sold at auction for €850,000
It's been a long time since Stellantis found itself at the heart of a scandal over its engines. A few months after the repeated breakdowns of the PureTech, the BlueHDi, a 1.5 liter diesel unit, in turn finds itself at the heart of the debates.
The cause is a technical problem with the camshaft, which causes the engine to break. This problem occurs due to the wear of the part over the kilometers and concerns a bunch of vehicles produced between October 2017 and January 2023. All bear the reference DV5R.
Around thirty models concerned
On the Peugeot side, nine models are affected in total: 208, 308, 508, 2008, 3008, 5008, Partner, Traveler and Expert. At Citroën the C3, C3 Aircross, C4, C4 Cactus, Space Tourer, Berlingo and Jumpy are likely to break down. For the rest, at DS you have to watch the DS 3, DS 4 and DS 7, while the Opel Mokka, Crossland, Astra, Grandland, Zafira, Combo and Vivaro are also on the list.
Metallic noises coming from the engine can be warning signs of an upcoming camshaft breakage. Stellantis indicated to our colleagues at La Voix du Nord that it covers the repair costs of vehicles less than 5 years old or less than 150,000 km. This still requires that you have scrupulously followed the vehicle maintenance deadlines.
To summarize
After the PureTech engine and the Takata airbags, a new major problem is shaking Stellantis, of which several thousand customers could be affected. The list of vehicles concerned.
