Migros Industrie currently has nearly 14,000 employees for a turnover of 5.78 billion in 2022. More than 20,000 different products are manufactured at 201 production sites in Switzerland and nine abroad, according to the Migros Industrie website. Migros. Micarna, Elsa Group, Mibelle Group and Delica are among the subsidiaries of M-Industrie, producing dairy products, meat products and even beauty products.

Improvement in profitability sought

Requested by Inside Paradeplatz, Migros made a laconic comment, through a spokesperson: “As communicated on several occasions, Migros Industrie is currently examining its strategy and future positioning within the Migros group. Of course, we will inform transparently internally and externally as soon as decisions are made.”

These questions are part of a broad restructuring plan. At the beginning of February, Migros had already announced a major reorganization plan to improve, among other things, its profitability. “The group generated a record turnover of 31.9 billion francs (+5.9%) but saw its profitability plunge to 175 million francs, compared to 459 million a year earlier,” we could read in the columns of Time, in May. Nearly 1,500 people, out of the company’s 100,000 in total, could be affected. “As part of this process, Migros is also seeking to sell its subsidiaries Hotelplan, Mibelle, Melectronics and SportX. And related announcements are expected this summer.”
