Visa had a notable presence at the second edition of Gitex Africa Morocco, the largest Tech and Startup event in Africa which was held recently in Marrakech. A presence that demonstrates Visa’s unwavering commitment to promoting financial inclusion, encouraging innovation and championing a cashless economy on the continent. A stand designed around the “Cashless Medina” concept was erected there, highlighting Visa’s commitment to empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and artisans with the tools, resources and support needed to participate in the booming digital economy.

In an interview with La Vie Eco, Svyatoslav Senyuta, vice-president government solutions for Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Visa, discussed the action taken by the group, alongside the continent’s governments, to help institutions in their digital transformation. “At Visa, we have decades of experience in helping governments take the digital leap,” he explained from the outset, emphasizing that the success of financial inclusion and digital transformation depends on the combination of three main elements: digital identity creation, digital payment (for people, governments and businesses) and adequate public policies (e-gov) and automated processes.

“If we introduce correctly, with the right strategy and with the right user experience, these three elements into one ecosystem, the synergies created through this approach are immense, and it helps close the digital and financial gap in a much more meaningful way. fast,” summarizes Svyatoslav Senyuta.

This approach, proven by Visa, is now deployed in many African countries, as part of government projects. Thus, Visa facilitates the deployment of digital identity projects in Africa, and helps build government Wallets so that all government allocations can be digitized for citizens. Visa also works with many organizations to resolve issues relating to the delivery of benefits and support funds to populations in the event of a serious crisis or natural disaster.

In Morocco, considered a crucial market for Visa, the company has entered into a partnership with the Digital Development Agency to support the government in its digital transformation and to improve the processes already in place. A collaboration that promises to be fruitful. “Morocco is a remarkable example of how the government has used public-private partnership to get things done faster and more efficiently for its citizens and businesses,” he noted.

As for his impression of Gitex Africa, Svyatoslav Senyuta was rave: “It’s truly an exceptional event! Many thanks to the government of Morocco for making this possible.”
