Francine Thibodeau won the classic Lotto 6/49 jackpot, $5,000,000, in the October 12 draw with her roommate, Johanne Bergeron.

These two Beauce residents received their prize during a festive event held in Saint-Georges on October 23.

They are Francine, two long-time roommates who are now retired. Johanne worked in the construction field, and Francine, in a hospital center. It was Francine who bought the winning ticket and checked it on October 16 at the end of the day. Seeing that she and her roommate won $5,000,000, she quickly returned home to announce the big news to the latter. Tears of joy mixed with laughter for these two winners, whose lives had just changed. They hid the precious ticket in a drawer while waiting to return it to Loto-Québec.

Now multimillionaires, Johanne and Francine first intend to repay their mortgage. Francine also mentioned that she was finally going to buy her dream car, a Jeep. When she called the dealership to order the vehicle she wanted, she didn’t even think it necessary to ask what the price was!

« Lotto 6/49 continues to make many people happy across Quebec. A total of nine jackpots won in this lottery were awarded in 2024, including two to residents of Chaudière-Appalaches! “, underlined Isabelle Jean, executive vice-president and head of lottery operations at Loto-Québec.

Note that the lucky ticket was purchased at the Super C grocery store at 8585, boulevard Lacroix, in Saint-Georges, a business which will receive a commission of $50,000, equivalent to 1% of the winnings.
