Born in 1973 in Rabat, Adel El Fakir was appointed, on June 1, 2024, director general of the National Airports Office (ONDA), during a council of ministers chaired by King Mohammed VI, replacing Habiba Laklalech , appointed to this position in 2021.

Mr. El Fakir is called upon to carry out several strategic projects, including the upgrade of the kingdom’s airports. The new CEO of ONDA is no stranger to this new mission given that he has led, since June 2018 and until the date of his appointment, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). Indeed, fully committed to promoting the Morocco destination, Mr. El Fakir has increased, during the year 2023, the number of air services with national and international airlines and tour operators around the world.

In this sense, it also strengthened marketing actions and communication campaigns, in particular with the international campaign “Morocco, Land of Light” and brought together all tourism operators. It is therefore no coincidence that Adel El Fakir was elected Personality of the Year on January 17, 2024 in Rabat for his commitment to the sector, during the first edition of the “Morocco Tourism Awards”.

In the opinion of Moroccan press bosses surveyed during this competition initiated by the specialized media Tourisma Post, under his leadership, the ONMT has never had so much dynamism. Better yet, in the 2023 edition of Forbes Middle East magazine’s ranking of the best leaders in different sectors, in the Middle East and North Africa region, dedicated to the tourism sector and entitled “Top 100 Travel & Tourism Leaders 2023 », Adel El Fakir was placed in 18th position, the first Moroccan to be included, for the first time, in the Top 20. Before being appointed head of the ONMT, Adel El Fakir was deputy general director at Atlas Bottling Company, the Coca-Cola bottler for the northern regions of Morocco, for four years (2014-2018).

He also served as Director of Advertising for the Kingdom’s Public Broadcasting Group (SNRT) (2009-2014) and Regional Marketing Director for North Africa and Equatorial Africa at The Coca-Cola Company (2009-2014). 2006-2009). Polyglot, passionate about art, culture and board sports, Adel El Fakir is married and father of three children. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in finance in 1994 at ISCAE, Adel EL Fakir managed to obtain an MBA in International Business from the Ecole des Ponts ParisTech but also a DESS in marketing studies from the University of Social Sciences of Toulouse.
