It must be said that after 20 years behind a microphone, she left radio to go work at Maison Albatros. In addition, his colleague Pierre-Michel Auger, who was until then in reflection, indicated on Wednesday that he did not intend to run for mayor.
The former MP and columnist at 106.9 FM also mentioned that he still intends to get involved in politics and that he intends to support a candidate who has not yet declared himself, possibly a woman. Some concluded that it was Catherine Gaudreault.
The latter addressed these rumors on her lunchtime show on Thursday. She clarified that her decision to leave 106.9 FM was taken several weeks ago, not because she no longer loved her work, but because she wanted to take on new challenges. “I made a decision from my heart. My heart’s decision is to go and work with Maison Albatros on November 11, and that still hasn’t changed,” she declared.
In interview with The Nouvellisteshe indicates that it is flattering to see that people are thinking of her for town hall, but at the moment, she is more planning her career change which obviously brings its share of emotions.
“I’m not thinking. I am happy with my decision, and on November 11, I will begin the mandate that awaits me,” she assures.
So we shouldn’t expect to see his name on the ballot in November 2025? “It’s not in the game plan for the moment,” replies Ms. Gaudreault.
Several potential candidates
Several names of potential candidates have surfaced in recent weeks. In a survey The Nouvelliste-Cogeco-SOM published this week, we see that 53% of respondents are undecided as to who would make the best mayor.
In addition to Mayor Jean Lamarche, several names were suggested in the survey, namely councilors Dany Carpentier, Pascale Albernhe-Lahaie and René Martin as well as former councilors and mayoral candidates Jean-François Aubin and Valérie Renaud-Martin. We also found the man who was at the head of the Cogeco Amphitheater, Steve Dubé.
If the mayor obtains the support of 14% of respondents, the result of other potential candidates varies between 1 and 7%. Nobody stands out.
Finally, in addition to Pierre-Michel Auger, Valérie Renaud-Martin and Steve Dubé made it clear that they were not going to run.
In recent weeks, Dany Carpentier, Pascale Albernhe-Lahaie and Jean-François Aubin have said they are thinking. René Martin mentioned that he might be interested if the mayor gave up seeking a new mandate. For his part, Jean Lamarche has still not confirmed whether or not he will run.
