Tesla Phone: the impossible smartphone with Starlink and solar panels
There has been a lot of talk about the Tesla Phone (Tesla Pi Phone to be precise) in recent months on the web. We had avoided talking about it because the news was very far from being official, but now, perhaps also thanks to the new government position of Elon Musk, it seems that the subject has returned to the forefront. The first rumors about a Tesla Phone have been circulating for a few years, when some users were having fun creating concepts. And in reality, nothing has happened since. The rumors remained as is, without any basis, and the chances of a Tesla phone actually becoming a reality never increased. To then return to the forefront, perhaps also due to the desire of certain websites to ride the wave of popularity of Elon Musk, as if it were breaking news. Musk has repeatedly said that he does not intend to create a smartphone in the absolute sense of the word and not just by associating it with the Tesla brand.

Indeed, Elon Musk thinks that the means of communication of the future is Neuralink and that it would not make sense today to concentrate on the development of a smartphone. And given how futuristic the projects of the richest man in the world are often, we have no difficulty in believing that this is indeed his thinking and not just a way of inducing the press. in error. This smartphone’s purported technical specifications, which also reportedly include Starlink satellite connectivity and integrated solar panels, make the existence of a Tesla phone more unlikely. Two technologies that do not mix well with the smartphone format. Even if Starlink and Tesla had succeeded in miniaturizing these technologies to this extent, the concrete problem of direction (towards the satellite and towards the sun), the consumption of the antenna and the very low production that could generate such a small solar panel would remain. In practice, these are two ideas born from a few fans but which have no chance of coming to fruition.

Added to this were improbable rumors of very low prices, which would have wiped out the competition. And even if Tesla Phone were real (and it’s not): would you trust a price announcement made by Musk? Once again, there was talk of nothing, revolving around the need to ride the wave of Elon Musk’s persona and his notable companies, whether Tesla or Starlink.
