The Mohammed Premier University (UMP) of Oujda is hosting, on October 23 and 24, an international congress around the theme “Rethinking the supply chain: Sustainable development and operational efficiency”.

This event will explore the challenges and opportunities linked to the integration of sustainable development principles in supply chain management, reports MAP.

With a focus on operational efficiency, it aims to find innovative solutions to reduce environmental impact, improve economic performance and strengthen the sustainability of logistics activities, emphasize the organizers.

The supply chain refers to all the activities necessary to manage the flow of raw materials, finished products and information, from their point of origin to the point of consumption.

“Traditionally, the main concerns were focused on speed and profitability. However, with the evolution of environmental and social issues, it has become imperative to rethink this supply chain to integrate the dimensions of sustainable development,” note the organizers in a congress presentation note.

“Integration of sustainable development in supply chain management”, “Training and awareness of supply chain actors on sustainable development” and “Collaboration and partnerships for a sustainable supply chain”, are the main axes which will be at the center of the debates .

Participants will also focus on: “Optimization of transport flows and resources to reduce the carbon footprint”, and “Monitoring, measuring and reporting of environmental and social performance”.
