New loans to businesses to anticipate climate change

Announced in February, the 2 billion euros in “green” loans guaranteed by the State were to begin to be distributed by banks at the end of March, according to Bpifrance. In any case, for those with an amount greater than 200,000 euros.

Credits of an amount less than this sum, for the smallest businesses, should be available in the summer, “from July”, promised the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire.

According to Bercy, these loans can be used to help them adapt to climate change, for example by financing a water reuse circuit, better insulation of a building or a system for detecting surrounding forest fires. But investments for the benefit of climate change mitigation are also eligible. The new instrument could reach up to 2.5 million euros for an industrial company. Bruno Le Maire nevertheless encourages companies to clearly identify the investments necessary for their adaptation, because “global warming is already here”.
