ICM Industrie has settled in Saint-Symphorien

Less than ten months were enough to set up the new ICM Industrie site in Deux-Sèvres. Launched in February 2023, the new Saint-Symphorien factory has been operational since November 2024, to the delight of Franck Bouju. “The site is a little smaller than the old one, but we have good quality”rejoices the site director.

“We make tailor-made products for our customers”

Arriving in Deux-Sèvres in July 2013 following the acquisition of the company Proteaux, the ICM group, specialized in the machining of plastics and composites, now benefits from a site of 7,500 m² (including 2,500 m² of buildings) in the industrial zone of Saint-Symphorien, classified Natura 2000.

“We had to meet many environmental requirements, but it is a choice of our group to come here”, indicates Franck Bouju, praising the quality of insulation of the new factory.“The old site no longer met our industrial and ecological needs”continues the director, indicating the installation of solar panels by the end of 2024.

Inside, ICM has equipped itself, thanks to a total budget of two million euros, with new machines, each more sophisticated than the last. The precision is surgical. From the start of the chain, where the plastic is stored in the form of bars or plates, to the finished product: small parts intended for aeronautics, medicine and even defense companies.

Large plastic bars are sorted and stored at the start of the line. They serve as raw material.

“We make tailor-made products for our clients. We do not have our own product catalog », explains Franck Bouju. Certain slender parts will find their place in the skeleton of an airplane. Others, multi-perforated, will make up the connectors for medical devices. “The market is growing, we have great prospects”comments the director.

Around ten new jobs in 2024

Despite the maximum automation of its activity, ICM still employs 40 employees on the Saint-Symphorien site. “We train our employees. The use of machines allows us to do them up skills “specifies Franck Bouju in reference to programming or product quality control missions. “A large part of our activities now take place behind a computer”illustrates the director.

Freshly installed on its new site, the Niort branch of the ICM group wishes to continue its expansion with the recruitment of around ten new employees by the end of 2024, mainly in machining.
