The exterior livery of the TGV-M revealed
This April 29, at the Alstom Belfort factory, the exterior livery of the new TGV-M models was unveiled. It is white that largely dominates, a color “which allows you to save on air conditioning in periods of high heat”, according to the boss of SNCF Voyageurs. In Belfort, nearly 800 people work to produce the TGV-M engines.
A new data center in France for Cern
Cern, the European laboratory for particle physics, has inaugurated a new computing center in Prévessin-Moëns (Ain), on the outskirts of Geneva. This data center is intended to meet the growing data collection, sorting and storage needs of one of the world’s largest scientific laboratories.
An act of sabotage shut down the Volvic factory
The Volvic water bottling site was the victim of an arson attack on the night of April 30 to May 1. Two individuals broke into a room on the industrial site, paralyzing the bottling plant and production. This room is in fact one of the nerve centers of the factory which allows the installations to run. No demands had been made as of May 3, and the trail of environmental activists seems favored.
Wandercraft obtains European funding to develop a personal exoskeleton
The French start-up Wandercraft has just obtained European funding of 25 million euros to develop a self-stabilizing personal exoskeleton, intended for walking in urban environments for people with very reduced mobility. The financing comes from the European Investment Bank (EIB) at the beginning of April, which comes two years after a fundraising of 40 million euros in Series C. The commercialization of the exoskeleton is planned for the end of 2025.
Jimmy submits an authorization request for an SMR at Cristal Union
The start-up Jimmy announced on April 29 that it had submitted an authorization request for the installation of a mini-reactor in Bazancourt (Marne) in order to decarbonize Cristal Union’s activity. This site, made up of a distillery and a sugar factory, is one of the 50 highest emitters in the national territory. The mini-reactor would have a power of 10 MW, but its installation is still far from being completed as a long phase of studies and authorizations begins.
