The pooling of skills between the CHI Corte-TattoneSerenu and Cap Solidaire, for “offer a more fluid overall journey for the dependent person, and anticipate the transition from home to entry into an establishment”East “primordial”estimates Gérald Simon-Jean, director of Solidarity Cap. “For the elderly it is a sanction, for the family it is almost culturally shameful”he asks straight away before taking stock of the current context of home help.

“Home help has become professionalized and takes more responsibility for dependent public. Before, average support was around 20 hours per week, today it is 40 or 50 hourshe recalls. Public policies are emphasizing home assistance which is already running out of steam, so without the support of other establishments, this agreement is complicated.”

Faced with this phenomenon, there are two solutions. “First, we must rely on caregivers, taking into account their importance and relieving them with awareness workshops and identifying loss of autonomy in order to increase the age of entry into dependence and secure and support those who enter.”estimates the director of Cap Solidaire who applied for a call for projects concerning the establishment of centers for caregivers.

Then, for “anticipate things as best as possible”the latter recalls the future creation of an independent residence, “first stone to consolidate the care of dependent people in Central Corsica”which will see the light of day in Corte. “The objective is to provide inclusive housing, and to make it possible to identify the shift towards dependency and therefore to facilitate entry into a medical establishment but also to decentralize the structures and thus keep elderly people close to their homes.”
