PFor the EU as a whole, the unemployment rate was 6% in March 2024, down from the rate of 6.1% recorded in February 2024 and stable compared to that recorded in March 2023.

Eurostat estimates that in March 2024, 13.258 million people were unemployed in the EU, including 11.087 million in the eurozone.

Concerning youth unemployment, Eurostat indicates that last March 2.858 million young people (under 25) were unemployed in the EU, including 2.259 million in the euro zone. Thus, the youth unemployment rate stood at 14.6% in the EU, down compared to the rate of 14.7% recorded in February 2024, and at 14.1pc in the euro zone, down compared to the rate of 14.4% recorded in the previous month.

On the other hand, the EU statistical body notes that the unemployment rate for women stood at 6.4% in the EU, stable compared to the rate recorded in February 2024, and the unemployment rate of men at 5.7%, down from the rate of 5.8% recorded the previous month.
