Obviously being a pricing error, the jeweler had refused to recognize the purchase and deliver them to him, but had refunded his order and offered him a bottle of champagne and a case for his passport, according to a letter of the company distributed by the client.

Mr. Villarreal, however, stood his ground and contacted the federal consumer protection agency. According to the Mexican press, the brand’s representatives did not appear at the conciliation hearings. “War is over. Cartier executes,” Mr. Villarreal published on X on Tuesday, where he chronicled his quarrel with the luxury giant in a sarcastic tone.

After four months of standoff, the customer finally confirmed on Friday that he had received the earrings, publishing on X the photo of two small boxes in a box bearing the logo of the luxury company. Right-wing senator Lilly Téllez accused the lucky customer of being “dishonest.”
