A 110-year-old American who has become the eighth oldest man in the world provides advice on longevity, as he maintains good physical and mental shape, despite his advanced age.

Vincent Dransfield, who celebrated his birthday in Little Falls, New Jersey, in late March, still drives his car and lives independently at home.

This former volunteer fire chief explains this longevity by spending time doing what he loved, according to what the media “Today” reported.

“Knowing people and loving people makes me live longer,” said Mr. Dransfield, who spent more than 80 years in the firehouse.

The centenarian who has all his faculties does not need assistance in everyday life and receives visits from his grandsons once a week to check on him.

Mr. Dransfield, who has not shown any health problems, apart from knee pain, washes his laundry alone at home.

“I manage to do everything,” the centenarian told American media “Today,” adding about his car trips: “I drive pretty well.”

“He drives very well – better than some people I see,” Erica Lista, Mr. Dransfield’s granddaughter, told the American media.
